  1. Well, Barb still hasn't left but I'm almost packed.
Little tidbits of facts appear in the corners of my brain.
Mt. McKinley is 20,320 feet high - that's 3.85 miles.
Healy is about 100 miles from Fairbanks and over 200 from Anchorage.
    Jade is the state gem.
    Gold is the state mineral.
There is no felony in the state capitol for car theft. It's only a misdemeanor - and it's called joy riding. There are no roads to Juneau - so one's car doesn't get far from where one left it.
I already miss Oregon though. The blossoms are thick on the blueberry plants - and I'll miss the blueberries. I love summer cereal with blueberries snatched from the plants. Sometimes the berries don't even make it back to the kitchen. And the cherries. I love to stand under my trees and munch ...you get the idea.
I've heard that the Nenana River that runs past Denali Princess Lodge is still frozen sold. I hope I get there in time to watch the ice break up and the river put on its summer best.
    It's only for 4-1/2 months.
    It's an adventure.
    It's just about to begin.
